Bolt Action Americans

Behold, my first Bolt Action army! It’s a 1000 point list comprising a mix of Regular US Infantry and Veteran US Airborne. I’ve only had one game with them so far, which unfortunately resulted in a loss, but I can’t wait to take them out for another battle soon.

Stay tuned for more Bolt Action miniatures being painted soon. I’ve got a comparable German army, and have already made a start on my first 28mm Tiger!

    • I like the different scale, it’s a little more personal than the massed platoons in FOW. Every squad counts!

I don’t like the rather limited options for force selection – even if it’s unrealistic, you’re only allowed a small amount of support in terms of MG’s, mortars, etc. And only one armored vehicle! There are some new tank battle rules up on the Warlord site, but I don’t know how balanced they are… something that doesn’t bother me, but is always going to be an issue going mainstream with the wider gaming community.

Lastly the rules – they’re very simple. Again, something that doesn’t bother me, but I wonder how sophisticated this will make choosing varied lists.

  1. there is a new guy at the club who has played both. He said Bolt Action takes longer to play and it doesn’t lend itself to tourneys. I I think he liked BA better. He felt is played more realistic and less gamey feeling than FoW.
